Are you making some new year resolutions this year?

For me, since I was in my late teens, with a few periods of blowing it off, I’ve been oriented around creating goals, positive affirmations, and positive afformations (affirmations in the form of a question) for myself.  I’m not necessarily one to do the whole resolution thing.  Matter of fact, I can’t even remember a time, if there ever was one, that I actually set a resolution.  For one, my birthday is on January 17 and I kind of consider that to be my new year date.  For two, I make the effort to live with the perspective that every day is a new day and I can make any changes I want on any day.

However, for many January 1st brings hope and fresh resolve to make positive changes in one’s life.  It’s a great tradition and who couldn’t use a dose of hope and resolve? As the new year gets off to a start, for some, it creates unnecessary stress and makes them feel bad because they haven’t followed through with their resolution or haven’t gotten to the point of where they feel they should be.  If this is you please give yourself a break and try to minimize how much you should all over yourself!

We live in such an impulsive right now society anymore and it seems as though people have forgotten that real change takes dedication, consistency, persistence, and the willingness to make the choice every day to stick to it.  I know you know we’re all human and we all have lessons to learn and humility to gain as we grow so we slip up from time to time. That’s ok!  Take a moment to evaluate what happened, readjust, start again, and remember we all have our own timeline.  Be grateful for where you are and bless it.  I know it sounds a bit hokey, but I promise you IT WORKS.

There have been a lot of changes this year for me and the practice.  To be honest, I started this year out feeling a little stagnant.  That left me open and vulnerable to some things that were not the best decision for me or the practice.  When I look back and reflect upon it I know it ended up being a great thing for me.  When I moved my practice in May that lead to a big business lesson for me and was not a good decision on my part at all.  What can I say? The human factor got me and the I was enticed by the new shiny thing.  I didn’t make a big to do about leaving there and moving again.  I felt pretty bad about all of it. I was embarrassed that I made such a poor decision and didn’t listen to my intuition, friends, and couple of professionals I consulted when the red flags were presented.  Now that I’m on the other side of it all I have a little more clarity.  I needed the nudge to make some changes that I was fearful to make that are better for both, me and the practice.  2019 was about evaluating, readjusting, and starting again.

As I move into 2020 I’m excited this year for what’s to come.

  • The new space is great! The people in the building are fun to be around and supportive. Another bonus, I get to be in the space with my BFF hypnotist Brenda Kaye.
  • A monthly drawing to win a basket filled with fun goodies for checking in while you’re at your appointment, leaving a review, or sending a referral.
  • E-gift cards that are available on the website, at the office, or you can call to order.
  • I have started doing informational talks at the office in our conference room.  You can find the dates and times on Facebook, Eventbrite, and the website (coming soon).  If you know anyone who would benefit from acupuncture, functional medicine, or any of the other adjunctive therapies please send them my way.  I do free ear needles for anyone who attends and wants them.  Also, if there are any particular things you would like to learn about shoot me an email and maybe I’ll do one of my talks on that subject.
  • I’ve added full spectrum hemp products to what I offer for at home self-care options.
  • I’ve been working on my functional medicine certification and will finish that up shortly.  That will add some services to the practice that will add benefit to all of you.
  • When the VA switched the coverage for the veterans I got lost in the loop of all of it.  That is in process and will hopefully complete within the next month or so.
  • I’ve started the contracting process with Cigna as well and will be accepting that insurance soon.
  • As always I welcome any and all feedback.

I hope you’re entering into the new year hopeful and excited for what’s to come.
